The 3M™ Mercury Organic Vapor/Chlorine Acid Gas Cartridge 6009 provides reliable protection against mercury vapor, chlorine, and sulfur dioxide in a variety of work environments. It can be used for vapor concentrations up to 10 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) with half facepieces, or up to 50 times the PEL with quantitatively fit-tested full facepieces.
This cartridge is ideal for applications such as chemical transfer, laboratory work, and line opening operations. Its versatility helps reduce inventory needs and training requirements, making it suitable for multiple industrial tasks. Commonly used industries include chemical manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, and primary metals. The cartridge is compatible with 3M™ Half and Full Facepieces, including the 6000, 7000, and FF-400 Series with bayonet holders. It is NIOSH-approved for use in environments containing mercury organic vapors and chlorine gas.
Equipped with a passive End-of-Service-Life Indicator (ESLI) for mercury vapor, the cartridge alerts users when replacement is needed. It is not intended for use in immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) environments. The cartridge is assigned the color code “Orange” by NIOSH. Exposure to mercury vapor or chlorine gas can be hazardous, and this 3M™ cartridge has been tested and approved by NIOSH to help reduce the risk of inhaling these harmful vapors and gases.
